Ciana Cia Mumbi (Of ghosts once ancestral beings) is a journey through time space and self.The project explores East African meditative music from a post colonial lens disecting different aspects of spirituality and sound therapy as influenced by culture both new and old. Muthoni Ni Mimi manipulates field recordings of gikuyu traditional instruments , everyday human expression and synthesised sounds to create an ambient sonic experience on which the story unfolds.We follow Nyakairu a healer and a seer from the 17th century reborn into the 21st as they are born, taught, learn, unlearn and become. Part A of the project features fiVe tracks 01. KIAMBIRIRA a track on beginnings, creation and birth. A song of firsts. 02 . GITHAKA GITHAKA Is An exploration of self an expression of love and freedom to do so, untamed. A reminder of the beautiful wild being in you . 03 . UTHIINGU She interacts with an image of self and the world outside the direct influence of family. She decides now. She sees herself, She is seen. 04 . NYAKAIRU With the knowledge of her past and Present and a renewed sense of self she seeks to interact with her past with the gods forgotten, so she drowned before she sored . 05 . GUCIARWO RINGI Reborn with a clear image of self in harmony and understanding and acknowledgment of the past and reverence for the future and the mysteries it holds .

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke
